Werner Vorndran was born on April 24, 1922 in Geburtsstadt
Sonneberg, Thuringia, Germany. As Fred Delmare he participated in innumerable
film and television productions and was adored in the GDR as the king of the
secondary roles (character actors), in such classic films as "The Legend
of Paul and Paula". Until 2005 he was one of the stars (Grandpa) of the
MDR series; “In aller Freundschaft". Delmare began, in early 2006 to show
symptoms of Alzheimer's disease and lived in a Leipzig nursing home. He never
forgot his domestic dialect. Fred appeared in five Euro-westerns: “The Falcon’s
Trail” (1967), “White Wolves” (1969), “Apache”, “Ulzana” both (1973) and “The
Long Ride from School” (1982). Delmare died of pneumonia on May 1, 2009 in
Leipzig, Danzig Germany. Today we remember Fred Delmare on what would have been
his 90th birthday.
