German actor Manfred Richter died in a Berlin hospital on
April 20, 2012. He was 68. Born on January 3, 1944 in Magdeburg, Germany, he
was a lathe operator and boxer in Magdeburg and Berlin before being discovered
by Ulrich Thein for his film “Titel hab' ich noch nicht” which a young boxer is
the main character. He then attended the Schöneweider School of Drama from
1964-1967 followed by engagements at the Freiberg Theater Group in Dresden and
then Berlin until 1977 when he became a freelance actor. Manfred will be
remembered for his participation in many television films and series including “Geschichten
über'n Gartenzaun", "Bei Neuhaus' zu Haus", and a number of "Staatsanwalt" and
"Polizeiruf" episodes. Richter appeared in only one Euro-western “Trail
of the Falcon” (1968) portraying a soldier.
