Vittorio Cecchi Gori was born on April 27, 1942 in
Florence, Italy. The son of producer Mario Cecchi Gori, he has produced over
175 films, most notably “Il Postino” (1994), which received an Academy Award
nomination for Best Picture and “Life Is Beautiful” (1997) which received an
Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Vittorio was married to actress,
screenwriter Rita Rusic from 1983-2000. Gori owned the football club ACF
Fiorentina from 1993 to 2002, as well as the private television channel La7. He
was also senator from the Italian People's Party from 1994-2001. Gori produced
one Euro-western “Il mio West” (Gunslinger’s Revenge) (1998). On June 3, 2008,
he was arrested in Rome for bankruptcy. Today we celebrate Vittorio Cecchi
Gori’s 70th birthday.
