From October 2, 2018 to January 27, 2019, the Museo della
Permanente in Milan will host a major exhibition, sponsored by the City of
Milan, dedicated to the seventy years of the Ranger. Discover all the details!
It is September 30, 1948 when the first editions of Tex
strip debut in Italian newsstands, the character created by Gianluigi Bonelli
and graphically created by Aurelio Galleppini destined to become the most
beloved hero of Italian comics and one of the world's most long-lived comics.
Seventy years later, Sergio Bonelli Editore celebrates
the Ranger with a great exhibition titled TEX. 70 YEARS OF A MYTH, open from 2
October 2018 to 27 January 2019 at the Museo della Permanente in Milan and
sponsored by the Municipality of Milan.
Curated by Gianni Bono, historian and scholar of Italian
comics, in collaboration with the editorial staff of Sergio Bonelli Editore,
the exhibition will tell how Tex managed, year after year, not only to become
part of Italian reading habits, conquering generations different, from 1948 to
today, thanks to his deep sense of justice and his innate generosity, but also
to become a hero and a real phenomenon of custom, a name that needs no
introduction.
In the 70 years of its history, Tex, the adventurer, the
ranger, the wise chief of the Navajos Indians, lived epic and memorable
stories, faced bandits and evildoers and rescued unjustly persecuted Indian
tribes, rode on the dusty trails of the old West , as in the burning deserts of
Mexico and in the cold regions of the Great North. And unforgettable, of
course, are the challenges with his everlasting enemy: Mephisto, the
incarnation of evil. Now, thanks to drawings, photographs, rare materials and
sometimes never seen before and through themed installations created
specifically for this event, the exhibition TEX. 70 YEARS OF A LEGEND, the most
important tribute ever dedicated to L'Aquila della Notte, will retrace the epic
of Tex Willer, which is also that of the American Frontier, from its creation
to the present day, through the events and characters of the series and
extraordinary artists of the pencil and the brush that have made Tex the myth
that we all know.
The exhibition is intended for fans of all ages, but is
also designed for those who wanted to approach for the first time the gritty
world, anti-racist and enemy of all injustice of Tex and his son Kit Willer, of
the gruffly Kit Carson and the proud Navajo Tiger Jack.
Through the front pages of newspapers, TEX. 70 YEARS OF A
LEGEND will also cover 70 years of Italian history, which will tell the
parallel between the brave adventures of the brave Ranger and those of our
country, and will offer visitors the opportunity to ride alongside Tex across
prairies, forests and deserts , from Arizona to Canada, from Rio Grande to the
Pacific Ocean, facing outlaws and rebel Indians, but also voodoo wizards and
secret sects ...
