Spaghetti Western Trivia ~ The many sides of Dino Strano

Dino Strano aka Dean Stratford was a multifaceted person. His father was a very popular poet in Sicily. Dino was at one time a paratrooper, he was part of an acrobatic team and before his film career he was a theatrical actor. In films he was a master of arms, a stuntman and usually a supporting actor in several of the Demofilo Fidani films.

  1. Dino Strano was an Italian-American actor and stuntman who often appeared as Dean Stratford in Italian Westerns. His date of birth and date of death are unknown as is his birthplace but I believe he was born on March 15, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and grew up in his mother's hometown of Catania, Italy. His parents often moved back and forth between the United States and Italy and as a child, Dino lived in several states including Washington, Colorado, California, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Alabama, Tennessee, and Ohio. His older brother, Carl, was also an actor and often appeared in films with him. He worked with such legendary Spaghetti Western actors such as Charles Southwood, Fabio Testi, Robert Woods, Gordon Mitchell, Klaus Kinski, Benito Pacifico, Lincoln Tate, and Jack Betts, AKA Hunt Powers. My opinion is that he died of prostate cancer on November 4, 2012, in Rome, Italy, although some websites mention his death year as 1983. But since the 2012 date sounds more accurate, this is what I'll go with. I only hope I'm wrong but until that is proven, that's all I've got. Feel free to correct me at any time because sometimes I'm not always right and I DON'T think I'm right on this one. But who knows? Maybe somebody out there will give me a clue. Thank you.
