Venta Araoz was an old inn near Gádor which was used as a
prison during the Spanish Civil War. In the 1960s, film directors took
advantage of the arched features and made some changes, and used it cinematically
to represent a fort in “Finger on the Trigger” (1964); “A Bullet for the
General” (1966); “A Long Ride from Hell” (1968). At the end of the 1970s, a
large cement factory was built that incorporated the structure.
