Several Italian girls used the path to become a movie
actress by entering various beauty contests where they would receive exposure
from the press and often seen by acting agents and film producers. In 1962
Rossella Bergamonti (Rosetta Bergamonti) participated in the Miss Italia beauty
pageant and although she didn't win, she finished in third place, earning the
title of Miss Sorriso (Miss Smiles).
