Tarantino to receive Lifetime Achievement award in Rome



Ennio Morricone will present the filmmaker with a lifetime achievement award January 4, ahead of the European premiere of "Django Unchained."

ROME -- The International Rome Film Festival said it will present director Quentin Tarantino with a special lifetime achievement honor, along with a gala screening of his spaghetti Western homage Django Unchained, the film's European premiere. Along with several of the stars of “Django Unchained” such as, Quentin Tarantino, Jamie Foxx and Christoph Waltz they will meet stars of the Italian Western, Franco Nero, Giuliano Gemma, Gianni Garko, Bud Spencer, Enzo Castellari, Giulio Questi, Sergio Donati, Alberto De Martino, Rosalba Neri, Lucio Rosato, Ruggero Deodato, Lars Bloch, Franco Giraldi, Ursula Andress, Sergio Martino, Ernesto Gastaldi, Nori Corbucci, and many others actors and directors.

The event, in which iconic Italian film composer Ennio Morricone will present Tarantino with the award, will take place January 4. Although the seventh edition of the Rome fest concluded Nov. 17, the ceremony is being cast as a continuation of the festival, the first under the artistic direction of former Venice Film Festival head Marco Mueller.

  1. Biltmore: I doubt that Sophia Loren will be invited. She was very critical of Tarantino a few years back when he said that Italy's home-grown cinema was dead.
