Converting the province of Burgos, and its spectacular and varied landscape richness, into a great natural dish that the best film or television productions can use is the endeavor in which the Film Comisson has been working on for a long time. They reply that in the Sierra del Demanda walks hand in hand with the Sad Hill Cultural Association, whose members, after having recovered the mythical cemetery in which Sergio Leone shot the final scene of 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly'. You have now embarked on this new Adventure.
The idea arose, precisely, due to the interest that producers from the most varied fields transferred them to record in the cinematographic cemetery after recovering it. “We always believed in the potential of the cemetery and other points where Sergio Leone had filmed, but he surpassed us. And that encouraged us to do a work on cinematographic archeology and recapitulate many other works that have been done in the area”, explains Sergio Garcia, a member of Sad Hill.
The results only confirmed its commitment to bring filming to the Sierra de la Demanda since, previously, it had captured the interest of those responsible for important productions. Images of the area appear in The Valley of the Swords from the Cultural Association warn that getting the Sierra de la Demanda to become part of the Film Commission will become a new secondary resource that will favor the arrival of income to the area.
“A production of the type the ministry in time can mobilize 200 people perfectly. Some are run by the production company itself, but normally they have to use local service companies, extras, catering, drivers, accommodation ... A shoot does not only mobilize companies in the audiovisual sector. There are a lot of services that can benefit,” Garcia emphasizes.
Its main incentive, is to see that although the Sierra de la Demanda has not yet been recognized as a filming destination, there are many who have already shown interest in bringing their recordings to it and the Sad Hill cemetery has already hosted different productions. They are, in addition, filming of the most disparate and that little or nothing have to do with the origin of the environment.
“We thought that the cemetery was more than amortized, in terms of filming, because everyone associated it with something very specific, in addition, a kind of legend. Who would dare to record there? No one is going to bear the comparison”, they acknowledge from Sad Hill. His belief has fallen to the ground when a film director brought to this place a film that has nothing to do with the western, nothing more than an aesthetic that seems to evoke a duel. Or when the Hudini Club, a Disney Channel program also chose the cemetery as the setting for one of its programs.
Even, they say, they were surprised to see how the video clip industry also moves important productions, including hip hop music, which have chosen this place between Contreras and Santo Domingo de Silos.
