Mariela
Pérez Branger was born in Caracas, Venezuela on February 14, 1946. Mariela
lived in England and studied at the
Central University of Caracas. She was the Miss Venezuela titleholder for 1967,
and was the official representative of Venezuela to the Miss Universe 1967
pageant held in Miami Beach, Florida, USA, on July 15, 1967, where she won the
title of 1st Runner Up. After participating in the Miss Venezuela and Miss
Universe 1967, Mariela received an offered a modeling contract in New York
City. She would appear a year later on the cover of Vanidades (Vanity)
magazine.
Her
modeling career led to the opportunity to appear in films. She was offered a
role in a Cantinflas film but turned it down. Her only credited appearance was
in an Italian, U.S.A., Filipino film The Arizona Kid starring: Chiquito, Gordon
Mitchell and Mamie Van Doren.
Mariela
married Dominican businessman Jose Maria Vicini Cabral (1926-2007) in 1972. The
couple lived in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
