Who Are Those Composers ~ Santa Maria Romitelli

 

Santa Maria Romitelli was born in Panicale, Umbria, Italy on January 7, 1921, He was introduced to music at an early age by his grandfather who was a chapel master. He taught himself how to play the piano. Later he moved to Rome to follow his passion for music and attended the CSC University from 1942-1943. He left school to work in the musical industry and over the years worked with various companies such as CAM, RCA Italiana, BEAT Records, Ricordi Music Publishing Carosello Records BMG, and GDM Music. He worked with Franco De Gemini at BEAT records where most of his film scores were made and released.

He also produced a number of pop records with such singers as Franco Migliacci, Bruno Zambrini, Fred Bongusto and Gianni Morandi, Romitelli created music for the theater as well as films.

After 40 years he returned to Umbria and began a teaching career until his death on October 30, 2004.
