Carlo Innocenzi
was born in Monteleone di Spoleto Italy on May 29, 1899. He worked as a
draughtsman who designed plans for the Ministry of Transportaian. He developed
a deep interest in music and studied composition with such tutors as the
maestros Fattorini and Principe. He was awarded his diploma in 1930. Shortly
thereafter he met Sonia Pearlswig who under the pseudonym Marcella Riva was a
singer/songwriter. They were soon married and became a musical composition team
through their love of music and the arts. Innocenzi became a talented composer
and conductor and his career spanned half a century composing over 300 films
and documentaries. Many of the films he scored became well known and box office
smashes. He composed for the films of such well-known actor as Ugo Tognazzi,
Peppino de Filippo, Aldo Fabrizi, Giovanni Ralli and Alberto Sordi.
In total he composed over 700 scores for films and the
concert halls. He’s best remembered by film goers for his scores to such movies
as “Cavalcata selvaggia” ,”Un canto nel deserto”, “Il terrore del’Oklahoma”, “Il
terrore dei barbari”, “Giulio Cesare contro i pirati” ,”Sansone”, “La vendetta
di Ursus”, “Tropico di note”, “Maciste alla corte del Gran Khan”, “Il conquistatore
di Corinto”, “Trionfo di Maciste”, “La rivolta dei mercenary”and “I Reali di
Francia”.
As a film music composer he’s remember for such films
such as, “Cavalcata selvaggia”, “Un canto nel deserto”, “Il terrore
del’Oklahoma”, “Il terrore dei barbari”, “Giulio Cesare contro i pirati”,
“Sansone”, “La vendetta di Ursus”, “Tropico di note”, “Maciste alla corte del
Gran Khan”, “Il conquistatore di Corinto”, “Trionfo di Maciste”, “La rivolta
dei mercenary”, “I Reali di Francia” as well as many more.;
Carlo Innocenzi died in Rome on March 24, 1962.
