Douglas Myron Lackey was born in Sacramento, California
on August 10, 1932. He grew up in Petaluma, California and played in several
Marching Bands. He was also the Valedictorian of his graduating class.
Lackey was educated at the University of California Los
Angeles (UCLA) and became a prolific composer of film and television scores, He
has also composed the musical scorings for a number of industrial motion
pictures. Joining the American Society of Composers and Publishers (ASCAP) in
1963, his chief musical collaborator was Gene Kauer. He may best be remembered
as the music editor for 22 episodes of the TV series “Family Guy” for which he
won 2 Golden Reel Awards.
Douglas Lackey died in Woodland Hills, California on June
22, 2016.
