Spanish art director, set decorator and production
designer Gil Parrondo died in Madrid, Spain on December 24th. He was
95. Parrondo won two Academy Awards for “Patton” and “Nicholas and Alexandra and
was nominated for another in the category Best Art Direction. He was involved
in five Euro-westerns: “Savage Pampas” (1966) [set decorator], “The Valley of
Gwangi” (1969) [art director], “Four Rode Out” (1970) [art director],
“Rustlers’ Rhapsody” (1985) [production designer] and “The Return of El Coyote”
(1998) [production designer].
