José Rubio died today March 15, 2012 in Madrid, Spain. He was 81 years old. Born on September 10, 1932, in Lubrin, Almeria, Andalucia, Spain as Jose Rubio Urrea, he worked in theater, film and television since the 1950s, making him one of the most popular faces in Spain for decades. Among his most notable films are “La casa de la Troya” (1959), “Siempre es domingo” (1961), “¿Qué hacemos con los hijos? (1966), “Don Erre que Erre” (1970), “En un mundo Nuevo” (1971). On television he triumphed in such series as as ”La casa de los Martinez” (1967-1970) and the Marujita Díaz “Música y estrellas” (1976). Among his many films were two Euro-westerns; “Behind the Mask of Zorro” (1965) and “The Fury of Johnny Kid” (1966).
