An exhibition dedicated to filmmaker Jose Maria Zabalza opens today March 2, 2012. The show aims to recover the history of Zabalza of Irunés, who died in 1985, whose filmography includes twenty films.

The exhibition ‘José María Zabalza: a Passion for Film’ opened March 2 at 7.30 p.m. at the Amaia Cultural Center. The show aims to recover the history of the director, screenwriter and producer who died in 1985, "He had the skill and brilliance to grow during a critical time, and to make his own style in movies," said Bethlehem Sierra, Delegate of Culture. In presenting the press conference, which took place March 1, accompanied him Gurutz Albisu, exhibition curator and author of a book on the filmmaker.
Zabalza, born in 1928, was defined as "a maverick filmmaker and he had a singular obsession that was to only move forward with his projects." His filmography starts with a movie "Con un marcado acento personal” (With a Strong Personal Touch" which led to all kinds of films we find all kinds of subgenres: spaghetti western, musical castizo, horror, black cinema, uncovered".
A sample in the gallery consists of posters from the films of José María Zabalza and photographs of their shooting, several of which are located at points of Irun, on the beach of the friars of Hondarribia ... Handbills, advertising guides, scripts, censorship documents, reviews and other original materials that complement the content of the exhibition. It will be open from 7:30 p.m. March 2 and continue until April 22 with free entry. Visiting hours are from 6.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday and from 11.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m., Sundays and holidays. (Closed Monday).
To complement the exhibition, during the months of March and April some of the productions of Zabalza will be shown at the Amaia Cultural Center. The first will take place on March 7, next Wednesday, at 7.30 p.m. in the conference room of Amaia, where you can see the movie “Julieta engaña a Romeo”. The next day, at the same time and location will be screened “no soy un asesino”.
