We begin our search for locations for the 1966 film “Navajo Joe”. The film opens with a beautiful Indian squaw washing clothes at a stream. She’s approached by a man Mervyn ‘Vee’ Duncan a scalphunter. Unknowing the maiden smiles at Duncan and continues to wash her clothes. Duncan smiles back because he sees dollars for her scalp. Suddenly he raises his rifle and the massacre of the Indian village is on.
The location for the opening massacre of the Indian squaw
at the river was shot at Rio Fardes in Fonelas, Spain.
