While at boarding school Rod Elliot befriends Wabi when the other students harass him because he is an Indian. But Rod drops out of school to work when his family can't afford the tuition. When Wabi returns to the Yukon, he offers Rob a job as a fur trapper. But soon rumors of gold in the mountains distract Rob. Wabi decides to join Rod and search for gold, but the bonds of their friendship are tested when they encounter opposition from a hostile tribe and must struggle to escape with their lives.
