Clara Bindi was born on
November 1, 1927 in Naples, Campania, Italy. In 1947 she joined the theater company
of Eduardo De Filippo where she performed for many years. In 1948 she made
her debut in the world of cinema, in the film “La macchina ammazzacattivi”.
During her film career she worked with many Italian artists: among others James
Furia, Mario Mattioli, Anna Magnani, Aldo Fabrizi, Peppino De Filippo and Marcello
Mastroianni. She also worked with several international celebrities. In 1969 she
had the opportunity to appear with John Cassavetes. In the decades following
her brilliant film career develops even more. She also had the opportunity to
work in television. Clara appeared in only one Euro-western “Arrapaho” in 1984
In recent years she has often played the role of the mother or grandmother. Bindi recently appeared in the stage role of Rosalie in Solimene in “Filumena Marturano” and the role of Donna Adelaide in “Napoli Milionaria!”. Comedies by Eduardo De Filippo re-worked by Massimo Ranieri aired on RAI1 on November, 30 2010. Her last film appearance was in “Il principe abusive”, directed by Alessandro Siani in 2013.
