Renzo Girolami was
born on January 12, 1939 in Rome, Italy. A member of the Girolami clan he is
the nephew of directors Marino Girolami [1914-1994], Romolo Guerrieri [1931- ]
and cousin of actor Enio Girolami [1935-2013] and director Enzo Castellari
[1938- ]. Renzo was primarily an assistant director on a dozen films including
two Euro-westerns: “2 RRRingos
from Texas” (1967), “The Wild and the Dirty” (aka Johnny Hamlet) and
“Execution” (both 1968), “Durango is Coming, Pay or Die” (1971). Girolami also
used the alias Renzo Spaziani. Under this alias he directed “For a Book of
Dollars” (1973) starring Lincoln Tate.
Renzo died in Italy sometime in 2000.
Today we remember Renzo Girolami on what would have been his 75th birthday.
