Thomas
Weisgerber was born on January 17, 1929 in Hanover, Niedersachsen, Germany.
After interrupting his medical studies,
Weisgerber started acting lessons in Frankfurt in Main, Germany In addition, he
founded the Wiesbaden Zimmertheater Studio 51, which he had to close later
due to financial difficulties. After finishing his acting training he began
theatrical engagements in Hof, Freiburg, Hamburg and Bremen. In 1960 Weisgerber
went to East Germany, where he played for the National Rostock Theatre and the
Volksbühne in Berlin. Weisgerber then began his film career appearing in DEFA
productions among which was his only Euro-western “Apaches” in 1973. In the
early 1980s Weisgerber began losing his interest in acting and was seen less
and less and retired to Pfalz in Rheinland.
Today we celebrate Thomas Weisgerber’s 85th birthday.
