Giovanni Grimaldi was born on November 14, 1917 in
Catania, Sicily. Grimaldi was an Italian screenwriter and film director who
wrote screenplays for nearly 80 films between 1952 and 1983 and directed nearly
20 films between 1965 and 1976. He directed and wrote the script to five
Euro-westerns such as “The Magnificent Three” (1961), “In the Shadow of a Colt”
(1965), “Johnny Colt” (1966), “The Handsome, the Ugly and the Stupid” (1967)
and “Franco & Ciccio on the Warpath” (1969). He was the father of director,
screenwriter Aldo Grimaldi [1942-1990]. Giovanni died in Rome, Italy on
February 25, 2001. Today we remember Giovanni Grimaldi on what would have been
his 95th birthday.
