From 1947 until 1964 he performed as a trumpeter and worked as a music arranger in the Karel Vlach Orchestra. From 1964 to 1984 he served in the Czechoslovak Radio in the music director. He also served as a member of the leadership of the Union of Czech composers, where he was head of the jazz section.
Vlastimil was the co-composer of only one Euro-western “Lemonade Joe” (1964).
Hála died on July 29, 1985 in Vysoký Újezd, Czechoslovakia.
Today we remember Vlastimil Hála on what would have been his 90th birthday.
