María Martín Vargas was born in Marbella, Malaga, Andalusia,
Spain on July 14, 1923. Her roots were of Swedish origin. She was the prototype
of Nordic beauty, and did not find it difficult to get her first film role. She
debuted in “El triunfo del amor” in 1943.
Martín would go on to appear in over 80 films and TV appearances.
She was still active in 1998 appearing in the TV series ‘A las once en casa’.
During her career María appeared in seven Euro-westerns from “Rebels on the Loose” in 1966 to “Four Candles for Garringo” in 1971. She’s probably best remembered by Spaghetti western fans for her portrayal of Kitty in “The Hellbenders” (1967).
Today we celebrate María Martín’s 90th birthday.
