During the filming of “Death at Owell Rock” starring Mark Damon and Stephen Forsyth, Second unit director Yves Boisset stated that a stuntman died during the shooting of the sequence of the wagon explosion. The stunt failed the day before and the director Riccardo Freda insulted the stunt man who did it again the next day, when he died. But after his death Freda sent a big sum of money to the stunt man's family.
Actor Stephen Forsyth had denied any death occurring
while filming. Italian film historian Roberto Curti stated that no other
sources outside Boisset reported the death.
I believe that the story about the stuntman's death was used by the director as an excuse to try and earn more money from the film. As for any proof that there was a death on location during the film, I can honestly say that I don't recall such an incident taking place. I believe the story is false and that the director probably made it up so that he could demand more money from the studios. This would most certainly be a possibility as other directors have done the same thing over the years. These instances don't always go ignored by Hollywood or even European cinema so it's no surprise that this rumor was spread. But no, I don't believe there was any death during the making of "Death At Owell Rock". If you want the whole story, you'll just have to ask Mark Damon as I know nothing about that. I hope this helps.
