This documentary is the story of a unique symbiosis and
legend building. In 1962, when the Karl May film The Treasure in the Silver
Lake came to German cinemas, Pierre Brice became for decades the most popular
actor in Germany and the idol of several generations. The values of the
American Indian hero Peace, Freedom, Tolerance and Human Dignity were also the
topics of the life of Pierre Brice. He personally traveled to crisis areas,
using his popularity to help others, helping war victims, children, animals and
nature conservation. Winnetou held conservative values high and his stories
dealt more with the history of the Native Americans. He was thanked by the
Winnebago Nebraska Indians for tirelessly defending their rights, and was
awarded the Rainbow Man award. In this documentary, he reviews his fulfilled
life with all the ups and downs of long conversations. He opens his private
archive full of personal memories and gives insights into his everyday life.
Interviews with his wife Hella, friends and colleagues, including Mario Adorf,
Götz George, Dunja Rajter and composer Martin Böttcher complete the picture of
Pierre Brice as a legend.
