Tomorrow night April 12 for the first time and a rare
occurrence Sarah Vista will be performing a selection of her band's favorite
Ennio Morricone compositions. As you undoubtedly know by now, the genius dubbed
the "Maestro" is a huge influence on the Vista sound and Musical
style.
They'll also be performing a selection of their own,
original compositions, all pieces going to be used on official film soundtracks
(yes, they have even more good news looming on the desert horizon!)
A vital new event in the BFI calendar, 'The Hot Take'
tackles burning issues in film culture. This month, with Clint Eastwood’s
archetypal cowboy and Valeska Grisebach’s feuding blokes in Western rubbing up
against the queer exuberance of Robin Campillo’s 120 BPM, we examine
masculinity at the movies. Expect fresh ideas, and be prepared to join in with
some spirited debate as we explore a topic that is more pressing than ever. The
evening will include provocative presentations from a range of expert speakers
- on topics as diverse as fatherhood, romcoms, cinematic fuckboys and Queer Eye
(check back soon for full details) - as well as musical interludes from
spaghetti-western songstress Sarah Vista and her band of outlaws.
