A stagecoach with a chest full of gold is attacked by gang of Tampico, but they are killed by Lasky and his henchmen. While the latter attempt to divide the spoils they are killed with a machine gun from none other than Lasky, who finds the treasure chest full of rocks. In close proximity a man is lurking: putting into action a watch and its chimes, constantly changing hiding place without being seen, he manages to terrorize Lasky. Managing to escape, Lasky warns the two bankers, Hollman and Stewall, that someone was aware of their plans. Subsequently Sartana tries to discover the reason and people behind the robbery. Stewall meanwhile is killed. Hollman then confides to his wife Evelyn to be the instigator of the robbery and tells her the place where he has hidden the gold. Meanwhile Lasky and Sartana try to reach a compromise with each other thinking that the other knows more than what he would have us believe, but they collide head-on and Sartana is shot to death. The story is further complicated when Lasky, by chance, learns from Evelyn, who in the meantime has killed her husband, the hiding place, removes the gold. He travels to the place to secure the gold, but also finds Sartana there, who survived his apparent death thanks to a copper plate that protected him. Sartana now takes his revenge on the double-crossing Lasky.
