Italian screenwriter Sergio Donati died in Mentana,
Lazio, Italy on August 13th he was 91. Born in Rome on April 13,
1933, he was a screenwriter for many of Sergio Leone’s westerns including “For
a Few Dollars More” (1965) “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” (1966) “Once Upon a
Time in the West (1968) and “Duck You Sucker” (1972). Leone would often call
Donati to have him improve or change screenplays. Sergio also co-wrote
screenplays for “The Big Gundown” (1966) and “Face to Face” (1967). He was much
appreciated abroad collaborating with directors such as Michael Anderson, John
Irvin and John Guillermin, he worked on “Raw Deal” with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Sergio was seen on many documentaries on Italian and Spaghetti western films on
which he participated.
