[These daily posts will cover little known actors or people that have appeared in more recent films and TV series. Various degrees of information that I was able to find will be given and anything that you can add would be appreciated.]
Ray Calloway was an alias used by Italian director, actor Mario Colucci who was born in Rome, Italy in 1932. He was mainly a director, writer and assistant director. Colucci wrote the screenplays for eleven films between 1962 and 1972.
After working as an assistant director in 1960 on Piero Regnoli's “Des filles pour un vampire” (Girls for a Vampire), Colucci wrote several genre film scripts between 1962 and 1967, sometimes under the pseudonym "Ray Colloway".
His first film was a spaghetti western entitled “Vendetta per vendetta” (Revenge for Revenge) in 1968 which starred John Ireland, Gianni Medici and Medici’s wife Loredana Nusciak in which he appears in a cameo role.
Three years later, he released the giallo “Quelque chose rampe dans la nuit” (Something Crawls in the Night), which the critic Louis Paul praised in his book on Italian horror films: according to him, "It's one of those underrated films waiting to be rediscovered".
Colucci last directed a dramatic film in 1972, L'altro piatto della bilancia with Catherine Spaak and Philippe Leroy, then left the industry. What became of him is unknown.
