French singer, actress Catherine Ribeiro died on August
23, 2024 in Martigues, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur France, she was a month short
of turning 83. Born Catherine Marie Marguerite Ribeiro, she was an experimental
folk and avant-garde performer whose work has attained a cult following. With
her band Catherine Ribeiro + Alpes, she released several albums in the late
1960s and early 1970s, including Catherine Ribeiro & 2Bis in 1969, No.2 in
1970, and Paix in 1972. From the late 1970s, Ribeiro also released music as a
solo artist. She was the companion of actor, composer Patrice Moullet. Ribeiro
also appeared in several films in the 1960s and 1970’s including the 1964
Spaghetti western “Buffalo Bill, Hero of the Far West” starring Gordon Scott.
She played the role of the Indian maiden Rayon-de-Loon/Moonbeam.
