Shortly before the premiere in his homeland, Benahadux, of ‘Blessing’, blood and mother of pearl, on July 20, the Benaducense filmmaker Andres Macho (Macho Films) finished his latest short film, ‘Redito maldito’. An audio-visual work produced without any means that was made between May 19 and June 9 in the locations of Rambla Honda and Rancho Majuelo (property of the director himself), both locations located in the municipality of Benahaduz.

This production, which will be presented if all goes as expected at the next edition of the Almeria Film Festival (AWFF), to be held in Tabernas in October, features in its cast José Antonio Carren Fernández (Toni Carre), Racquel Herrera, Diego Miranda and Laura Felices as the main actors, four names that are regulars in the director's works. Completing the cast are Rubén García Felices, José and Darío Corral (father and son), Manuel López García and Rafael Doménech, playing secondary but no less important characters.

Western Almería Macho wants to emphasize that he only works with artists from Almería and has stated that his priority is, above all, to sign new people, which is why he has counted on the photographer Rubén García Felices for this film in his debut as a supporting actor.

‘Redito maldito’ is a western-themed short film based on a true story that took place at the beginning of the 20th century in the midst of the decadence of the Far West. The plot tells the story of the last 48 hours of the life of a legendary gunman (whose name the director does not want to reveal yet) who went from being a national hero to becoming a character hated by his people, to ending up dying unexpectedly without pain or glory in poverty.

However, the film “is not a typical western shoot-em-up,” says its director, Andres Macho, “a drama with more dialogue than action.” Macho focuses primarily on the message of how a hero can become nothing.

The filming and editing team is made up of Miguel Montoya Sánchez (Mirame Almeria) as head of camera, editing and montage, and Nuria Campos and Nazaret Prados as camera assistants. The music is also by Miguel Montoya, a great composer and singer-songwriter from Almeria.
