The only remaining structure in Golden City is a water
trough that can be seen in the center of town in almost every Spaghetti western
film that was made there. All the buildings have been removed and the location
is an open field. The water trough was there amid the ruins of the set when I
was there in 2003 and 2005. Now it sits all by itself, a remnant of days gone
by. If it could talk what fabulous tales it could tell of films, crews and
actors who once walked past it or hid behind it during one of the many staged
gunfights.
