At seventeen Chilean peasant
Joaquin Murrieta immigrates to California in 1850, in search of gold, and by
the end of his life he has become a legendary rebel ans vigilante killed on
July 23, 1853. He has been considered a symbol of people fighting for freedom
and against injustice ever since that time.
This TV musical was an episode of
the ‘Horas doradas’ (Golden hour) music series
co-produced with the US and Canada; the special program Flash and Death of
Joaquin Murieta, was a finalist for an Italian Television Award. The
presentation was based on the play which itself was based on a poem by Pablo
Neruda.
