A tribute to Vittorio Gassman and Ugo Tognazzi on the centenary of their birth will be given at the 68th Taormina Film Fest from June 26 to July 2, 2022, in Taormina, Italy.
The
official poster of the 68th edition which this year dedicates particular
attention to comedy. The two international icons of our cinema, who have
crossed time and generations beyond films, will be celebrated this year at the
Festival through the memory of their children Paola Gassmann and Gian Marco
Tognazzi and thanks to the collaboration with CSC - Centro Sperimentale of
Cinematography and National Film Archive.
The poster, conceived and created by Ginevra Chiechio, is a joyful stylized composition that uses the collage technique and a color palette that evokes the colors of the sea and the earth. A pop image that portrays Gassmann in Dino Risi's “Il Sorpasso”, on the sixtieth anniversary of the film, and Tognazzi in a shot stolen from the 1960 Venice Film Festival, for an edition in the sign of a smile, comedy and a rediscovered serenity. New in this edition is the popular jury made up of cinema enthusiasts who will award the audience prize for the films in competition. The program of the 68th edition of the Taormina Film Fest will be presented on Thursday 16 June at the Hotel Metropole in Taormina.
Chiari
and Tognazzi appeared in two Italian Spaghetti westerns together: A Dollar of
Fear 1960 and The Magnificent Three 1961.
