Located near Retamar, Spain not far from the sand dunes area of
Cabo de Gata. The interiors of the second prologue of “The Good the Bad and the
Ugly” (1966) were shot here, when Sentenza, "The Bad" (Lee Van
Cleef), meets Stevens (Antonio Casas) and kills him: this part is combined, an
edited, with the outdoor shots filmed at the cortijo de Doña Francisca. Other
films shot in the cortijo La Joya are: “Gunfight at High Noon” (1963): “A
Bullet for the General” (1966): Texas Addio (The Avenger) (1966). Today this
building is used as a pig pen and storage yard.
