Today in 1968 saw the release of Joaquín Luis Romero
Marchent’s “Fedra West” aka “I Do Not Forgive... I Kill!” in the U.S.A. The
story is about Don Ramon’s son Stuart who returns home after being away for
several years studying to become a lawyer at the beckoning of his father. Don
Ramon has married a young Mexican woman after the death of Stuart’s mother.
Sent away as a child to avoid problems with Fedra, Stuart now returns a man.
Fedra has feelings for Stuart beyond that of a mother’s love. These feelings
bring about the tragic destruction of the entire family. The story was based on
the Greek myth of Phaedra.
The film starred veteran Hollywood ‘B’ actor James
Philbrook who went to Europe to try and continue and revive his career. He made
eight European films between 1966 and 1975, four of which were westerns.
