The cold-blooded outlaw Kent has killed Bottleneck's
lawman and in his arrogance has turned the city's biggest drunkard, Wash, into
the new sheriff. To the surprise of the gangster and his accomplices Wash now
leaves the whiskey and brings in the son of a famous bounty hunter to the town,
Deputy Sheriff Tom Destry. But instead of the expected hard-hitting gunman, the
newcomer turns out to be a bespectacled young man with a law book. Kent uses
his girlfriend Frenchy on Destry to gain influence over him.
