Andrea Checchi was born on October 21, 1916 in Florence, Italy. At 18 he moved to Rome and attended the Centro Sperimentale de Cinematografia under the direction of Alessandro Blasetti. In less then a year he appeared in the film "Vecchia guardia" which was directed by Blasetti. This was followed by a career as a supporting actor inover 175 films and television appearances including in such films as "The Brothers Karamazov" (1947) and "Two Women" (1960). Among his many films were two Euro-westerns "A Bullet for the General" (1966) where he played Don Felipe and the TV Film "The Jack London Story" (1973) as Matt Goodman which was later released as a film. During his career he also became an accomplished painter and had many exhibitions of his work. Andrea was married and is the father of assistant director Enrico Checchi. Cheechi dien on March 29, 1974 of periathritis in Rome. Today we celebrate what would have been Andrea Checchi’s 95th birthday.
