Johann Ernst Hardt was born on August 8, 1906 in Cologne, North Rhineland-Westphalia, Germany. He left home at sixteen to join a touring company and complete his training as an actor. He worked for several years in Cologne at the Millowitsch on stage and performing in operettas. During World War II he acted abroad in Vienna, Brussels and as far away as Argentina. After the war he became the first senior director of Central German Broadcasting in Leipzig and then in Annaberg. He would continue his career as a stage actor throughout Germany. Now known as Hans Hardt-Hardtloff he first appeared in film in "Tinko" (1957) and would go on to appear in over 50 films and over 100 television appearances as a supporting actor. Hans appeared in only one Euro-western "The Sons of Great Bear" (1966) as Major Smith. Hans died on May 24, 1974 in Potsdam, Brandenburg, East Germany. Today we remember Hans Hardt-Hardtloff on what would have been his 105th birthday.
