Clelia Bernacchi was born
in Milan, Lombardy on December 28, 1910. She was married to actor and voice
dubber Cesare Polacco [1900-1986]. Clelia was very active in acting on both RAI
and EIAR radio and the beginning of the 1930s, both in comedies than in dramas.
As an actress, she starred in a dozen films from 1935 to 2001 including her
only Euro-western “Blood Red Rose” (1939) playing the lead role of Esperanza.
Until her death in Rome on February 24, 2006 she was one of the most active
voice dubbing actresses who lent her voice most often to such actresses as
Patricia Neal, Lauren Bacall, Eve Arden, and Alexis Smith. She also starred in
the Italian Disney animated film version of “The Aristocats” (1970) as Peter's
grandmother and in the animated series “Heidi” (1978).
