Remembering Maria Rosa Valenza

Maria Rosa Valenza was born on March 23, 1923 in Tunis. She was married to producer, director, screenwriter and actor Demofilo Fidani [1914-1994] and is the mother of actress Simone Blondell [1950- ]. She was a painter and costume designer but also was often credited as a screenwriter and production designer in several of her husband’s films. How much she actually contributed is open to debate. Maria was credited under the aliases M.R. Valenza, Maria Rosa Vitelli and Mila Valenza among others. Among her co-screenwriting credits were “4 Came to Kill Sartana” (1969), “Dead Men Don’t Make Shadows” (1970), and “A Fistful of Death” (1971).  Valenza died on August 21, 2007 in Rome.
