Vinicio Sofia was born in Corleone, Sicily, on December
13, 1907. Sofia was a character actor who appeared in over 65 films between
1933 and 1973. One of his best remembered films was 1951’s “Alice nel paese delle meraviglie” (Alice in
Wonderland) with Clyde Geronimi, Wilfred Jackson and Hamilton Luske, where he was the Italian voice of Tweedledee.
In 1953 he again worked with Geronimi, Jackson, and Luske in the making of the
1953 film “Le avventure di Peter Pan” (The Adventures of Peter Pan) where he
played the part of Sponge. Sofia also
appeared alongside Toto in “Totò Tarzan” (1950). Vinicio appeared in one
Euro-western: “The Kid of the West” (1942) and was the Italian voice of Remo
Capitani in “My Name is Trinity” (1970). Sofia left us at the age of 75 on
December 20, 1982 in Rome. Today we remember Vinicio Sofia on what would have
been his 105th birthday.
