Born Cornel Constantin Jean on August 21, 1927 in Techirghiol, Constanta, Romania. Of Greek and Romanian ethnicity. As Jean Constantin he became a well-known Romanian actor and comedian. He graduated from Institute of Theatrical Arts and Cinematography. In 1965, he played his first role in the movie “Procesul alb”. Other notable roles he appeared in were” Brigada Diverse în alerta!” (1971), “Un comisar acuza” (1974), “Nea Marin miliardar” (1979), “Toate pînzele sus” (1977). Jean also appeared on stage at the theater ''Constantin Tanase'' in Bucharest and ''Fantasio'' in Constanta. He was married with Elena Jean. He won the Gopo opera prize in 2008 for lifetime achievement. He was decorated on February 7, 2004 the Cultural Merit Order in the rank of Officer. He died on May 26, 2010 in Constanta, Romania.
