Who Are Those Guys? ~ Hub & Jeu Consten

 

Hub Consten was born in Brunssum, The Netherlands on October 31, 1916 and was an administrative mining officer by profession. As a player and director of the Zuidlimburgs Toneel he had already earned his spurs before he joined Rex Film. He made his debut on the silver screen in 1957, as professor Donkers in “De Nieuwe Adventures van Dik Trom”. As a film actor he was unique, he could play any role. Whether a crook, clown, good priest or cruel pirate leader, Hub shined in every role. Small in stature, but when he acted, he was remarkably present. At a later age he did not shy away from dangerous stunts, you could always rely on Hub Consten. In 2001 he could be seen in the documentary “The Rex Files”. Hub had appeared in 34 films during his career. On January 15, 2002 Hub Consten passed away at the age of 85 in Heerlen.

Jeu Consten was born on July 23, 1951 in Heerlen and is the son of Hub Consten. As a little boy he walked onto the film set, which made such an impression that he asked Henk van der Linden if he could even play along. In 1963 that would result in a leading role in “Adventures of Pietje Bell”, in which he appeared together with his father. Today Jeu is a creditable author and as a presentation and communication trainer. Jeu appeared in 13 films as a child actor.
