Patrick Durkin was born in Linthorpe, Middlesborough, Cleveland, England on June 9, 1936. Durkin stood out in school for his acting talent, he was already able to recite Julius Caesar speeches at the age of 14, and was encouraged by his father, who sent him to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. In his class were also Peter O'Toole and Richard Harris.
Patrick made his debut by appearing in the television series "Coronation Street" in 1960. His acting career lasted until 1987, during which he accumulated roles in 66 film and television works, encompassing both television series and films.
Chubby, curly-haired small-part character actor of stage and screen, former straight man to comedian Tommy Cooper, he was a semi-regular in the 'Carry On' films and also tended to play minor heavies. He is best remembered for his drinking scene with Karen Allen in “Raiders of the Lost Ark” (1981).
Durkin died in London on September 1, 2009, at the age of 73.
Patrick Durkin appeared in one Euro-western, “Carry on Cowboy” as a townsman in 1965.
