Dragoslav Dzadzevic born in Požarevac, Serbia, Yugoslavia on May 23, 1928, was a Serbian actor, dancer and choreographer. A highly educated man, he studied several subjects at the University of Belgrade, such as electrical engineering, art history, ethnology, and eventually earned a doctorate in anthropology. During his studies, he was a member of the national volleyball team and became a professional solo dancer of folk dances. In 1958, the famous director Alberto Lattuada offered him his first film role in the adventure co-production film “La Tempesta” (The Tempest), based on Pushkin's story The Captain's Daughter. He subsequently starred in forty more films.
In 1964, he founded the “Folklorni ansambl Frula” (The Frula Folk Ensemble). Serving as its long-time artistic director, he shaped the ensemble to stand apart from traditional cultural-artistic societies. Under his leadership, Frula toured extensively overseas, bringing complex Yugoslav chain dances (kolos) and traditional choreography to prominent global stages like New York's Hunter College. The ensemble celebrated its 50th anniversary with a massive concert at the Sava Centar in 2014
Dzadzevic died in Belgrade, Serbia on August 16, 2018 at the age of 90.
Dragoslav Dzadzevic appeared in two Euro-westerns: “Die Pyramide des Sonnengottes” (Pyramid of the Sun God) as a Juarista in 1964 and again as a Juarista in 1965’s “Der Schatz der Azteken} (The Treasure of the Aztecs).
