The young John Clark Gable did not make his screen debut until the 1990 western, "Bad Jim", which began filming on Apr. 26, 1989, just four days before the death of Leone. Also ironically, "Scarlett", the authorized sequel to (not remake of) "Gone with the Wind", was published in 1991 and adapted as a 1994 CBS miniseries.

Director Sergio Leone wants Clark Gable’s son, non-actor John Clark Gable, to play Rhett Butler in his upcoming “Gone With the Wind” re-make. Marlon Brando and Rboert DeNiro have already agreed to play roles in the flick.

Leone left wearing two vests – one as director and other as the head of a newly-formed production company, Uno Films. Talks slated with Metro’s Robert O’Brien could nail down MGM proposal to have him direct overdue “Caravans.” Talks will include Leone’s interest in acquiring rights to an aged Metro entry, “Viva Villa,” as a starring vehicle for Toshiro Mifune/ He will also repeat previous offer to direct re-make of “Gone With the Wind.” Metro maintains re-make budget in today’s economy would $30,000,000. Leone feels he can bring it in for $14,000,000.
