RIP Don McCorkindale

 

British theater, film, radio, TV and voice actor Don McCorkindale died in London, England on August 31^st at the ag of 87. The son of boxer Don McCorkindale and later became the stepson of Freddie Mills, the Cruiserweight Boxing Champion of the World from 1948 to 1950. He lived and worked in South Africa from 1968 to 1976. An actor since the 1950s, he also appeared in ‘Space School’, ‘Compact’, ‘Juliet Bravo’, ‘The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes’, ‘Bulman’, ‘Hannay’, ‘The Bill’, and had a regular role in ‘Grange Hill’, ‘Bad Girls’, ‘EastEnders’, ‘Doctors’ and ‘Mission Backup Earth’. His many appearances in films include “The Blue Peter”, “Carry on Sergeant”, “Carry on Cabby”, “Taxi!”, “The Men from the Ministry”, “The Diamond Mercenaries”, “Gangster No. 1”, “Layer Cake”, “Call of the Hunter”, “The Silver Goat”, “Jack the Giant Slayer” and “Somnus”. On stage, he appeared in productions of “Treasure Island”, “The Wakefield Mystery Cycle”, “Instant Marriage” and “A Flea in Her Ear”. Don appeared in one Euro-western as Gringo in 1971’s “3 Bullets for a Long Gun”.
