[These daily posts will cover little known actors or people that have appeared in more recent films and TV series. Various degrees of information that I was able to find will be given and anything that you can add would be appreciated.]
Joëlle Baland was born in France on August 19, 1953. A natural daredevil, after swimming, fencing and trampolining, Joëlle Balland fell in love with horses at the age of 15. She met Mario Lurachi, precursor of dressage-show and founder of the stuntmen of France, who trains her in her choice to become a stuntwoman at the age of 19.
After a rich 30-year career spent doubling movie stars in more than 200 films (Sophie Marceau in “La fille de d'Artagnan”, Valérie Lemercier in “Les Visiteurs 2”; Marie Gillain in “Le bossu” and Juliette Binoche in “Le Hussard on the roof...”, Joëlle Belland succeeded not only in exporting her work to Europe, the United States and Africa; but also, to impose herself in this masculine universe....
Joëlle Baland today gives riding lessons to actors. This is how she has worked with Vincent Lindon Sophie Marceau and Guillaume Canet. She was also the one who trained the horses and took care of the children for the filming of the very beautiful movie " "le cheval venu de la mer" (The Horse from the Sea).

I actually have the movie "Bandidas" on DVD but I had no idea that a woman did all the stunts. Interesting.
